Dear First Gens,
Before we get started, we want to remind you that this will be the last episode of the year, as we are taking a brief break to rest and recharge before the new year. Last week, I took some time to provide reflections on this past year and the victories and challenges that I went through. As 2024 comes to a close, we will continue to discuss some powerful reflections and heartfelt gratitude. This year has been one of growth, connection, and discovery, and there is so much more to come!
For this week’s episode, I share two significant lessons that I learned in 2024, as I encourage you all to reflect on your own journeys and set intentions for the year ahead.
Reflections as a First Gen
My first reflection focuses on my career transformation and how I went from working a typical 9 to 5 job into what feels like my dream role. It wasn’t just about finding the right job for myself; it was about breaking free from the limiting beliefs that kept me stuck. I talk about the challenges of feeling pressured to settle for roles that didn’t leave me fulfilled and the sacrifices I thought were unavoidable. Once I shifted my mindset and took control of my career path, the possibilities began to unfold. I emphasize the importance of clarity, community, and self-worth in navigating professional changes. I hope that my story serves as a reminder that dreams can become reality with the right mix of reflections and action. We can live our dreams, and we don’t have to feel stuck or forced to stick with “the norm.”
Intention Setting for The New Year
In this episode, I also reflect on the value of time. Working remotely allows me to spend invaluable moments with my grandmother, something I truly treasure after years of living apart. The flexibility of my career change has given me the ability to support my family even more so than before while maintaining a healthier work-life balance. This experience just confirms the importance of cherishing time with loved ones and creating space for meaningful connections.
As The First Gen Madrina heads into a short vacation, I leave you all with a challenge: to reflect on 2024, set intentions for 2025, and make time for self-care before the year ends. Whether it’s a simple walk, a mindful moment, or a spa day, prioritizing personal well-being is essential. As we look forward to 2025, remember that you are never alone on this path. You are ready to embrace another year of growth and transformation.
