First Generation Programming Services

Dear First Gens,

Welcome back to our latest episode of The First Gen Madrina podcast highlighting the theme Supporting First Gens! Today we speak with Paulaska Ramirez, Founder and Executive Director of Generation Fearless. Paulaska was born and raised in Passaic, NJ and later became a resident of Paterson, NJ.

As a first-generation Latina, Paulaska knows firsthand the challenges and uncertainties that come with navigating college, graduate school, relationships, and adulthood without a point of reference. Her own journey has shaped her into a beacon of hope and guidance for others facing similar hurdles.

Paulaska The First Gen Madrina

Despite these obstacles, Paulaska excelled academically and embarked on a journey to higher education, navigating the unfamiliar terrain of a first-generation college student. She credits much of her success to the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, which provided the support and guidance she couldn’t get at home during her college years. Paulaska’s EOF counselor now holds a significant role in her life, showing just how important the power of mentorship and support can be.

Paulaska earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from William Paterson University and a master’s degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership studies at Northwestern University.

Supporting First Gens: Generation Fearless

Throughout her journey, Paulaska created Generation Fearless. This organization serves as a support system for first-generation women like herself. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by this community, Paulaska’s organization focuses on providing resources and guidance in areas such as emotional wellness, professional development, and financial literacy.

Through initiatives like Generation Fearless, Paulaska fosters meaningful discussions and community-building among first-generation women. Participants share their diverse experiences, highlighting the importance of recognizing and embracing one’s unique identity while navigating professional and personal challenges.

Overall, Paulaska’s personal journey and the mission of Generation Fearless show us the importance of prioritizing self-care and cultivating a growth mindset. Through Generation Fearless, Paulaska continues to empower and uplift others, inspiring them to embrace their unique journeys and pursue paths that lead to fulfillment and success.
